Its patented magnetron design provides clients with the unique combination of high target utilization and deposition rate with uncompromised film quality - known collectively as the “Angstrom Advantage™.” The company now announces a new initiative that will offer improved service to go along with their superior product. Dave Carrick and Brian Gottschalk are new additions to the Angstrom Sciences’ team and specialists in Autodesk Inventor®, a 3-dimensional design program. “This program provides us with a variety of options that were previously unavailable,” says Carrick. “We are now designing our parts in a 3D setting which allows us to see any potential problems, or room for improvement before a design hits the production floor.” Because Inventor creates alternate images of a magnetron sputtering cathode from the dimensional input of a single view, the program also promises to decrease the opportunity for human error than those which may occur in more labor-intensive 2-dimensional drawings. The simplicity of the Inventor program is expected to provide clients with shorter lapse between the day a product is ordered and the day it is shipped. In addition, Angstrom Sciences’ customers will have the opportunity to view a 3-dimensional design for approval. “By reviewing these improved drawings, the client will better understand the product they’re getting, because they’ll get to see their product from every possible angle,” said Gottschalk. The launch of this initiative began in March with the introduction of David Carrick, a Product Design & Development graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University who has spent the past three years designing consumer and manufacturing products at Kvaerner Power. On March 20, Angstrom Sciences added Brian Gottschalk to their engineering department as well. Gottschalk is well versed in the Inventor Program, boasting over four years of experience creating 3-dimensional design details and assemblies of fuel cells at Hydrogen, LLC. “The plan for implementation is immediate,” said Jason Hrebik, product manager. “While we’ll be using a different program, it doesn’t seem as though we’ll suffer through a learning curve. Dave and Brian are experts, and they’ll work over the next several months to train our existing engineers while continuing on incoming projects.” Angstrom Sciences is the world leader in magnetron technology used to produce thin films through the "sputtering"process.
